What types of dry fill material do you offer and what issues must be considered?
We currently offer three types of dry fill material in our CN Construct product line. That enables us to cover the areas of thermal insulation, crush resistance and sound absorption. Moreover, it generally makes no difference whether our fill material is used in old or new buildings. From our point of view, there are two decisive issues to consider in this regard:
Firstly, it must be clear for what purpose the dry fill material is being used and secondly, as a rule, fill material is one part of a system. Therefore, during installation, at least a sound basic knowledge of the system should exist.
Which expanded clay fill material do you recommend as dry fill for thermal insulation?
For the thermal insulation sphere of application, our product CN Construct 10 - 20 mm is used. The material consists of both kidney-shaped and crushed particles and impresses with its low bulk density of just 245 kg per m³. With a thermal conductivity (prEN 14063-1) of just 0.075 W / mK (SI unit: Watts per metre Kelvin) our product is happy to face the challenges of thermal insulation. Moreover, our class A1 building material according to DIN 4102-1 at the national and DIN EN 13501-1 at the European level is non-flammable.
What is meant by cavity fill material and dry fill material?
As the name already suggests, cavity fill material is used to fill an existing cavity. What we are addressing here is the possibility of filling hollow spaces in walls but also in floors / ceilings, depending on how one looks at it. For example: The floorboards are removed in a room in a "typical old flat". Upon removal of the old fill material (possibly debris and straw), a beam construction is revealed. Of course, the shape and size of the hollow spaces between the beams may vary widely from case to case. Please note, however, that the situation described here is incomplete.
Dry fill material, on the other hand, is used in further construction of a floor area. For example: In the aforementioned "room example", cavity fill was added and in the end the floorboards were re-installed. Now, however, additional footfall sound insulation is intended to ensure that neighbours in the residential unit below benefit from more peace and quiet. Once a vapour permeable trickle protection sheet with edge insulation strips has been installed on the floorboards, floor construction can continue with our product CN Construct 2 - 4 mm. Finally, once the rest of the flooring system is in place, the desired floor covering is installed. Please note, however, that the situation described here is incomplete.
Which delivery forms are available for the CN Construct products?
We are able to offer a wide range of delivery forms depending on the needs and size of the customer and/or the company. Bulk goods can be delivered by silo vehicle or in a tipper / walking floor lorry. Two different sizes of bigbags are available as packaging units as well as the standard bagged product in 50-l bags.
What are the delivery times for CN Construct products?
As a rule, the delivery time within Germany is approx. 8 - 10 days. Of course, we will also address this point in detail in our individual offer.
Can CN Construct dry fill material also be used in conjunction with underfloor heating?
Yes, whereby we of course have to begin by mentioning that many different underfloor heating systems exist. Our expanded clay products can be integrated effortlessly in a very wide range of systems.
Generally, setting up an underfloor heating system begins with installation of a waterproof foil on the "unfinished” floor. In a subsequent step, insulation consisting, for example, of one of our CN Construct expanded clay products, ensures that the transported heat does not radiate into the space below and is thus conserved for its intended destination. A frame structure to which the underfloor heating pipes are mounted ensures optimal distribution of heat to the rest of the floor system. However, the manner in which the pipes are laid may vary. In the next step, CN Construct is installed in the system so that the pipes are embedded. A floating heating screed is then laid over this insulating layer. Finally, once the rest of the flooring system is in place, the desired floor covering is installed. Please note, however, that the situation described here is incomplete.
Does your product CN Construct also have potential applications in the underground construction sector?
Our CN Construct products have many potential uses in underground construction. These include laying underground cable, pipeline construction and various other tasks. Depending on the invitation to tender and/or the profile of requirements, a wide range of particle sizes may be used here. In addition to secure embedding of pipelines to relieve pressure, drainage capacity also plays a major role.
