The mineral floating cover is revolutionising silo covers today
A purely natural solution is available as emission protection for covering silos and pits on animal fattening farms. Our CN Protect Plus® product line is a mineral floating cover comprising a special Leca expanded clay.
The difference also lies in the optimum grain size and composition
As a general rule, good values or results cannot be easily achieved with just any type of expanded clay. This is due to the fact that apart from the quality of the Leca expanded clay, the optimum grain size and composition also make a decisive contribution towards achieving its desired and exceedingly efficient emission-reducing values.
On account of the structure of the expanded clay, the surface of the emitting medium in the silo is covered in full, regardless of shape and size. Expanded clay is measured in cubic metres (m³) provided that the material volume applied also meets the requisite volume. As the mineral floating cover floats directly on top of the emitting medium, it covers it at the source. Unlike other types of cover, this prevents the formation of a space where an air-gas mixture can arise. As a result, a contaminated gas mixture cannot evaporate and be dissipated into the environment.
Modern measurement technology and scientific criteria at the LUFA Nord-West
It goes without saying that state-of-the-art measurement technology and analytical processes are applied. From a purely scientific aspect, standards are specified at the LUFA Nord-West which serve as a basis for the measurement results. This process entails measuring emission values, the concentration of odorants, ammonia and nitrogen oxides, which even exceed the immission guidelines of the current TA Luft and the Federal Pollution Control Act (BImSchG) over the long term.
This principle can be applied to other applications such as sewage systems, biogas plants and other emitting liquid deposits with odour-intensive sources. What is important here is that the mineral floating cover has the possibility to float on top of the “emitting source”.
