... and what are you going to do with the rest of your winter grit?

If we take a look back at the weather over the past few weeks, it is easy to forget that the last winter season extended all the way into late April of this year.

For some time now, however, we have been able to enjoy spring to the fullest. The scent of blossoms is in every street and lane, and we can delight in the magnificent splendour of flourishing plants. Not only are we greeted by assorted nuances of colour and flower variations in the front gardens by which we pass, but many "amateur gardeners" are also preparing their balconies for spring.

No matter whether it consists of a terrace, a loggia, a conservatory or a balcony, your "extended sitting room", your personal and individual outdoor area, is now being smartened up and decorated for everyday use again.

This, of course, begs the legitimate question: What to do with the rest of the winter grit? When it comes to the three "Ss", salt, stone chippings or sand, there is one tiresome and cumbersome answer: Store it.

With CN Winter Grit , made of 2 - 4 mm cracked expanded clay, you don’t have to go to the trouble. By choosing our anti-skid grit, you opted for a product with multiple uses. In the spring, our CN anti-skid grit also makes an outstanding and professional planting substrate capable of producing a clearly noticeable improvement in soil structure. So start beautifying your surroundings now, then sit back and revel in all the plants that spring forth.

Our tip:

It’s easy to make your own long-lasting, so-called "permanent earth”. All you need are two components: Some good quality potting soil, or soil from your flower bed, mixed with approx. 20 - 40% CN anti-skid grit.

Mix it thoroughly, and you have excellent permanent earth, which will not only remain structurally stable for many years and is easily wetted at any time, but also regulates the soil’s water and oxygen supply to the plants almost entirely on its own.

Fill your planter, for example, with a drainage layer of CN 10 - 20 mm light expanded clay aggregate. Now you can put in your permanent earth and finish planting. Of course your newly potted plant will also need some water and fertiliser occasionally.

We wish you a pleasant and colourful spring.
